Beach Hut

The Beach Hut is a little hamburger stand located in Willingdon Park right next to the campground. Every summer they serve overpriced, generic, fast food. Once in a while they hire someone who has an interest in food, then the quality improves. One summer they hired one of the students from the high school’s culinary program. He came to work dressed in his chef’s whites. That summer they offered the best fish and chips in town, with tasty homemade tartar sauce. Alas, that cook moved on, hopefully to a better position.

God I wish it would open as a high-end  fish and chip stand. Good halibut, lightly breaded with panko, real freshly made coleslaw, chips from real potatoes and (for god’s sake) some decent tartar sauce.  Fresh peel and eat prawns. Boiled new potatoes with butter and parsley. Shimp salad. Ceviche. Coctel de Camerone. Buckets of clams steamed with garlic and ginger. Oysters Rockefeller.

That menu, well executed, at that location, would make a bloody fortune.

One Response to “Beach Hut”

  1. June 2015 – The Beach Hut has a new owner, she is going into her 3rd season. Food amazing, great customer service with a smile. Has tiny dog size cones on the house with order. In for the long term with this kind of success, runs out of some selections with line up.
