Eagle’s Landing Bistro

After hearing several recommendations for this place over the years, I finally gave it a try. The setting is fantastic and I had high hopes for this pretty little place. First thing I noticed were the dirty grubby windows, and I’m not talking about salt spray on the outside. With such a spectacular waterfront view, you’ve got to have clean windows. The tables looked nice and the chairs were comfortable, but the server was brusque, and not all that welcoming. Worst of all, the food was disappointing. The special chile bread had an unpleasant overly soft texture (think: bread machine) and the seasoning wasn’t balanced. The balsamic dressing served with the lovely shrimp salad completely overwhelmed the delicate flavours. The steamed vegetables were pretty generic with the exception of a tasty slice of roasted beetroot. Actually, I’d say that slice of beetroot was the best thing in the entire meal. And the prices are fine dining prices which made everything much worse. They need to clean the place up, hire waitstaff with more finesse, and take a critical look at the recipes they are using.
